Another successful Healthy Ears event at Jigalong School

Our Healthy Hearing Outback program recently partnered with Jigalong Remote Community School, Mineral Resources, Puntukurnu Aboriginal Medical Service, Hearing Australia and Fair Game Australia to host our Kunyjunyu Kurlka event, which translates to “healthy ears” in Martu.

We were so happy to have Mineral Resources Health Services Administrator Grace Aiesi join us in Jigalong. Commenting on the event, Grace said,

Participating in the Jigalong event was incredibly impactful for me. Seeing the children’s enthusiasm and being able to contribute meant the world. Thank you, Lucy and Selina from Ear Science, for including me in such a meaningful experience—it was truly a privilege to support the incredible and meaningful work that this team is doing.”

A great turnout of around 35 kids, parents and staff attended, and enjoyed a MinRes-sponsored BBQ and some activities as they learnt more about hearing health from the team.

Ear Health Coordinator Lucy Mitchell said,

We partnered with some great organisations to host a fun afternoon promoting healthy ears and hearing to the kids at Jigalong School.  We are so grateful for our partnership with Mineral Resources, which has enabled us to invest time and resources to build stronger connections within the community and this event is an excellent example of this. It was wonderful to collaborate with multiple organisations on this event. Thank you to everyone who supported this special afternoon.”
