Professor Marcus Atlas’ swim team need your help to reach their biggest fundraising goal yet.
When the Gift of Hearing Appeal started ten years ago, Ear Science Institute Australia Director, Professor Marcus Atlas, knew it would change people’s lives – but he never knew its impact could reach every corner of the globe.
The Gift of Hearing Appeal has raised millions of dollars for community initiatives and hearing loss research, bringing new treatments and edging us closer to discovering a cure.
On its tenth anniversary, Professor Atlas is teaming up with good friends to swim the Rottnest Channel, a huge feat that will take many hours, and lots of hours of hard training. It’s all to raise funds for Ear Science’s life-changing work in the community.
Professor Atlas thanks everyone for their support: “This year, I will be swimming to Rotto with my good friends. The swim will take us at least six hours – on a good day! We do it because we care about the work at Ear Science Institute Australia.”
“The funds will go towards Gift of Hearing community initiatives, such as creating an implantable silk membrane that repairs damaged eardrums, or visiting remote Indigenous communities in the Pilbara, as well as our vital hearing loss research that will find a cure for hearing loss.”
“Together, we’re aiming to raise $15,000 – and we need your support to get there.”
